Tsunami warning issued after 7.1 magnitude earthquake hits Pacific Ocean
After a 7.1-magnitude earthquake strikes the Pacific Ocean, a tsunami warning is issued. India Today reports that there is a chance that climate change would cause enormous, destructive tsunamis in Antarctica that could have an impact everywhere. According to a recent study, this has happened in the past when Antarcticas temperatures were up to 3 degrees Celsius warmer.
The US Geological Survey reported that a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck on Saturday in the Pacific Ocean to the east of New Caledonia, one day after a significant quake slammed the same region, according to NDTV.
Layers of fossilised and ecologically rich sediments were found by the University of Plymouth team beneath the ocean floor. These layers are located 100 metres below the seas surface, below large expanses of underwater landslides.
