Flood fury: Nine dead in separate rain-related incidents in Telangana...
The NDRF and SDRF moved thousands of residents from flooded areas to relief camps when the rivers in both states were overflowing. Hyderabad and Vijayawada are two of the hardest-hit areas.
For the second day in a row, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh saw torrential rains, which caused floods and waterlogging in a number of regions as well as delays in train and road traffic on Sunday.
As severe rain continued to batter numerous regions of Telangana, including Hyderabad, on Sunday, nine individuals lost their lives in various weather-related events. Due to severe rains and waterlogging across tracks at several points on the South Central Railway network, up to 99 trains were cancelled, 4 trains were partially cancelled, and 54 trains were diverted, according to an SCR official.
Both state and federal emergency response teams had to move thousands of residents from flooded areas to relief camps due to the high water levels in their rivers.
In a conversation with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah promised them that the federal government will provide them with all the assistance they needed to deal with the rain and floods.
According to an official release, Reddy discussed phone calls with ministers regarding relief efforts in areas that were submerged and conducted an emergency review due to the states unceasing rains.
In Andhra, the last two days have seen unprecedented levels of rainfall that have rendered living impossible in many areas, particularly in Vijayawada and the surrounding areas. As a result, 17,000 people in the state have been evacuated due to the rain.
In two different rain-related incidents on Sunday in the districts of Mahabubabad and Khammam, a woman died and three others were thought to have been washed away.
