"K Kavitha paid ₹100 crore to AAP leaders": Enforcement Directorate

The daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Kavitha, was taken into custody by the Enforcement Department last week and will remain there until March 23.

According to Hindustan Times, The Enforcement Directorate claimed on Monday that K Kavitha, the leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), paid ₹100 crore to the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) through a plot involving prominent figures like Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia.

"Kavitha along with others "conspired with the top leaders of AAP including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia for getting favors in the Delhi excise policy-formulation and implementation," according to an ED statement.

"In exchange of these favours, she was involved in paying ₹100 crore to the leaders of AAP," the news organization stated.

The daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is being held by the Enforcement Department (ED) until March 23 after being arrested last week. In a statement, the ED claimed that "a continuous stream of illegal funds in the form of kickback from the wholesalers was generated for the AAP" as a result of "corruption and conspiracy" in the development and execution of the Delhi excise policy.

The 45-year-old BRS leader and his associates were accused by the ED of trying to recoup the criminal proceeds that had been paid in advance to the AAP and of continuing to profit from the conspiracy as a whole.

Kavitha had previously claimed that she had done nothing wrong and said that the BJP was unable to obtain a "backdoor entry" into Telangana, so the Centre was "using" the ED. The BJP is allegedly using the ED and CBI as its "goons" to eliminate political rivals, according to the AAP.
