Arvind Kejriwal to skip ED summons in Delhi Jal Board case

According to Hindustan Times, Arvind Kejriwal will not appear for the Enforcement Directorate summons, which were sent out in relation to an investigation into money laundering involving the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

According to the Aam Aadmi Party, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not respond to a summons from the Enforcement Directorate regarding a money laundering investigation related to purported irregularities in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also referred to the summons as "illegal" and charged that Kejriwal was being singled out by the BJP government at the federal level through the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Arvind Kejriwal was requested by the Enforcement Directorate to appear in person at its APJ Abdul Kalam Road office on March 18 in order to make a statement in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Arvind Kejriwal was summoned by the AAP earlier, and they made references to a "political conspiracy." What the party called a "backup" plan was to prevent him from running for office in the Lok Sabha elections.

"What the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) case is about is unknown to everyone. At a press conference on Sunday, Delhi minister Atishi stated, "This appears to be a contingency plan to arrest Kejriwal anyhow and prevent him from campaigning in the Lok Sabha polls."

Inquiries into Arvind Kejriwal are also ongoing in the money laundering case involving the Delhi excise policy. In that case, he has already rejected eight summonses, calling them "illegitimate". In that case, ED has summoned him to appear for questioning on March 21.

What is the case of DJB? The case is based on a CBI FIR that claims irregularities in a ₹38 crore DJB contract given to NKG Infrastructure Ltd., a company, by disregarding the technical eligibility requirements. The Delhi governments department allegedly channeled funds obtained through corruption into a contract
