awarded to the AAP, the ruling party in Delhi, through the use of election funds, according to the EDs claims in the DJB case.
According to the agency, the DJB contract was given out at "highly inflated rates" in order to force the contractors to pay bribes. Only about ₹17 crore of the ₹38 crore contract value was actually spent on it; the remaining sums were diverted under the pretense of various fictitious expenses. These fictitious costs were recorded for bribes and election money, according to the ED.
The agency raided the residences of Kejriwals personal assistant, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, a former DJB member, a chartered accountant, and several others in February as part of its investigation into the case.
People connected to the contract in the case were detained by ED. On January 31, DJBs former chief engineer Jagdish Kumar Arora and contractor Anil Kumar Aggarwal were among those detained. The Enforcement Department asserted that Arora "was aware of the fact that the company does not meet the technical eligibility" and that NKG Infrastructure Ltd submitted "forged" documents in order to win the bid.
